The 2009 awards were held at Kensington Roof Gardens in spectacular surroundings, guests were treated to a lively awards presentation with the best in business and finance in attendance.

Guests included the best in accountancy, finance and enterprise as well as business media. Celebrity entrepreneurs Dragon’s Den investor Theo Paphitis and Julie Meyer graced the stage. Theo received a special award for ‘Contributing to UK Enterprise’; Theo was recognised by the IFA for his outstanding support of small business owners and entrepreneurs.

Julie Meyer - one of the leading champions in entrepreneurship in Europe guest presented the awards. Julie has over 20 years investment and advisory experience, helping start up businesses - she is also a Dragon on BBC’s online Dragons Den.

The Institute of the oldest professional body of its kind in the world, and Chief Executive David Woodgate said, "We want to bring all sections of the financial and business community together to celebrate the achievements of the UK’s small and medium sized enterprises. The UK economy is built on the foundations of the SME sector, but it is facing challenging times so I think that it is important to provide plenty of encouragement and support."
